This list was compiled by my screenwriter friends Ed and Whit.

Need more fun ideas? Hopefully this helps. Check out Part 10 here.

  • Last post we shared IKEA pillow fort instructions. So you might be wondering (please just say you are wondering) why kids like forts so much. Here’s your answer.

  • DC Comics is making 250 Scooby-Doo comics available for free in celebration of the new animated film, Scoob! being released. Haven’t seen it? Go watch it here. And read all the comics here! Looks like you do have to register to read, but I don’t think there’s any cost. Movie and comics all kid-friendly!

  • Kids are swearing more in quarantine. We have no one to blame but ourselves. Here are some thoughts on the matter.

  • Looks like summer camp is canceled. Sorry, parents. But there are a bunch of alternatives to sending your kids to Camp Mosquito Lake. Take a look at these six ideas. And here are 100 other things to try to salvage your summer.

  • Pixar’s recently released a new short, “Out,” and it’s available on Disney+. It has Pixar’s first leading gay character. Check out all their shorts (and their “longs”) on Disney+.

  • And while you’re at Disney+ craving new content… How about kinda-new-content? Disney+ launched Zenimation, a 10 part series of already existing Disney vistas and moments from previous films — all set to calming music and/or ambient noise. Yeah, so pretty much ASMR for kids.

  • Paper dolls were a thing of the past. But guess what? So were global pandemics! So paper dolls are making a comeback too! Now in much fancier duds.

  • Misery loves company. Quarantine Diaries gathers people’s stories from around the country. They recently focused on Dealing With Kids. Enjoy the company/misery.

  • Kids are online more now than ever. And much of that time — if parents are lucky — the kids have headphones on. But what does that amount of use have on the kids’ ears and hearing? Find out here.

  • Squirrel Ninja Warrior. One of my favorite videos of this whole pandemic. A former NASA engineer builds an obstacle course to keep squirrels away from his bird feeder. A fun, educational, enjoyable ride. Watch here and consider watching his other videos.

  • James and the Giant Peach. Taika Waititi led this 10-part reading of the beloved Roald Dahl classic with famous actors. All to support Partners in Health. Start here.

  • Kovu sings. Tired of cute kids bringing tears to your eyes with their melodic voices? Had enough of elite colleges doing those compilation videos that swell your heart? Then how about a man and his 3 year-old husky singing together? Check them out here.

  • HBO Max recently launched! They’ve got Friends, The Sopranos, the DC Universe, Game of Thrones, Looney Tunes, and Sesame Street. HBO NOW and regular HBO subscribers are automatically enrolled for free. But if you don’t have any HBO you can buy the app or pay to get it through Hulu, YouTube, Apple and Google Play. Here’s more.

  • Not really a “Watch” or a “Play” but I didn’t know how else to categorize AirBnB’ing an actual baseball stadium! The minor league Pensacola Blue Wahoos are listing their entire (real) baseball field for $1,500 a night. It’s a first for AirBnB and you and nine friends can camp in the outfield, take batting practice, run the bases, play tag in the stands, hangout in the locker room, whatever you want. Check it out and if anyone does it, please let us know!

  • This is a really cool one sent in by a reader. A real-life video game! The Faroe Islands have strapped a video camera to some people’s heads. Then, from anywhere in the world, you can control them! Turn left, turn right, jump, even fly a helicopter! Sign up here!

  • Music will get us through this, gang. Well, that and a vaccine. And wisely-implemented social distancing. And comprehensive health plans at the federal and local levels. And basic health care for everyone, now that I think of it. And— was I talking about music? Yeah, that probably wouldn’t hurt. Here’s A Playlist for Partying Alone.

  • Jane Fonda’s show, Grace & Frankie, did a table read of an unaired episode to raise money for Meals on Wheels. Watch it here.

  • Mandy Patinkin and his wife don’t know a lot about pop culture. But they try! Watch as their son asks them questions they know very little about.

  • Sleep. It was an issue for a lot of us BEFORE the pandemic but it’s even worse now. Last post we shared with you a consultant who works with new parents and infants. Now let’s talk about nightmares. Why are they so prevalent now? Read about it here.

  • The pandemic-long question: who has it better off? The singles or the couples? For more on that we go live to our correspondent. (Spoiler: not live, nor a correspondent, just an article).

  • Meat shortages. Maybe this pandemic is what the world needed to go vegetarian! Or at least start thinking about our meat consumption. Here’s some things to think about.

  • Not my first list of stretches. Probably not my last. Stretch.

  • Roadtrips are expected to be big this summer. If you feel they are safe, at least consider these tips before you head off on the road.

  • It’s a great time to be handy. Or learn how to be handy. Check out the “Dad, how do I?” YouTube channel. Created by a man who grew up without a father, he’s created helpful videos detailing everything from “how to shave” to “how to unclog a bathroom drain.”

  • Do you trust your partner to cut your hair? Are you up to try it? If not, here’s some tips on how a man can cut his own hair. And here’s one for women. (NOTICE: By reading this list and clicking the links herein, you absolve me — its creator — from all legal repercussions of cutting your own hair).

  • We’ve all been there. Someone asks for a Zoom meeting and we say we’re busy. Then they hit us with the indefensible: “Where do you have to be?” And your polite little lie comes crashing down. How can we, in the age of lockdown-Zoom-all-the-time, set boundaries? Read this.

  • Zoom, FaceTime, Skype, Houseparty, some Google thing and some Facebook thing. There are so many video chat choices. Which is best? The winner is..

  • Suitcases! They’re just sitting there with no travel on the horizon. Use them as storage or to make forts! Just use them! They’re lonely! No link. Just a thought.

  • Remember hotel points? Frequent Flier miles? Oh, 2019 and early 2020! Those were the days. But what happens to all those fake points we racked up? Many programs have been extended but learn more here.

  • Sourdough discard. Don’t even try to tell me you don’t stress about it. Well, there are plenty of ways to use it and not let it got to waste.

  • More recipes from out there. Disney’s famous peanut butter and jelly milkshake is now yours. And it’s easy!

  • And while we’re talking recipes: this has been out for a while now but Chipotle released their guacamole recipe. Now I want their rice recipe.

  • Quarantine’s trials are many — isolation, depression, fear — but none larger than keeping your lemons fresh! Here are some lemon-fresh hacks to combat this all-important disaster.
